Spotlight: Germarie Cosme

What began as a temporary placement quickly grew into a meaningful career and true passion of mine. I was originally placed at Gersh Academy in 2017 after relocating from my hometown of Puerto Rico during the hurricane season. Over time, I came to deeply admire the mission of Gersh and the children we serve, and I knew this was where I wanted to build my future.

Over the years, I have had the privilege of witnessing tremendous growth, not only within the organization, but also in the lives of the students and families we support each day. I have also had the opportunity to be part of opening new campuses, which has been incredibly rewarding. In my role as Executive Assistant to the Chief of Education and Regional Directors, I work behind the scenes to help ensure operations run smoothly. While I value all aspects of my role, my favorite day each year is Graduation. It is always heartwarming to see the joy of both the students and their families as they celebrate such an important milestone. To this day, I still make it a priority to be part of the graduation committee.

Gersh has truly become my second family. I love that Gersh is student-centered and that there is never a one-size-fits-all approach. Every child is seen as an individual, and that is what makes this work so special. To anyone considering joining Gersh, I would say it is an opportunity to be part of something deeply rewarding, a place where you can make a difference, build meaningful relationships, and form lasting bonds.
