April is passionate about creating a culture where staff feel supported and empowered, knowing that this directly impacts the success and well-being of the students we serve.

We sat down with April to talk about what inspired her to join Gersh, what she’s excited to accomplish in her new role, and her hopes for the year ahead.

1. What inspired you to work in the field of education, specializing in autism?

I chose to work in education, focusing on autism, because it’s an area where the right support can make a life-changing difference. I find it rewarding to help create strategies and systems that give students the tools to learn, grow, and become more independent

2. Can you tell us a little about your background and experience before joining Gersh?

Prior to joining Gersh, I worked in roles that gave me experience in business operations, staff development, planning company events, and supporting organizational initiatives. I focused on building programs, supporting teams, and creating systems that improve efficiency and engagement. Those experiences really shaped how I approach problem-solving and collaboration today.

3. What drew you to Gersh Autism Academy?

What excites me about Gersh Autism Academy is the opportunity to be part of a growing organization that’s making a real impact. The vision of providing specialized programs and the dedication to advocacy for students with autism inspired me to want to contribute to that important work.

4. What does your role at Gersh look like day to day?

My role is to keep things organized and moving. Working closely with leadership to stay aligned, support projects across teams, and make sure we’re set up operationally to deliver for our students, families, and staff.

5. What do you hope to bring to your school/community/team/students in the coming year?

My goal is to strengthen collaboration and communication across our team, so we’re even more aligned in supporting our students and families. I want to bring a culture of shared purpose and accountability.

6. Outside of work, how do you like to spend your time?

I like to spend time with family, travel when I can, and stay active — it helps me keep a good balance and recharge outside of work.

7. What would you say to a family considering Gersh Autism Academy for their child?

I’d tell them that Gersh is more than a school — it’s a place where students gain the skills, confidence, and independence they need for the future. We’re committed to helping every child discover what they’re capable of and preparing them for meaningful opportunities in life
